Minos Garofalakis

Director of the Information Management Systems Institute at the ATHENA Research and Innovation Center in Athens, and Professor of Computer Science at the Technical University of Crete, where he directs the Software Technology and Network Applications Laboratory. Minos received his MSc and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and worked as a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, as a Senior Researcher at Intel Research Berkeley, and as a Principal Research Scientist at Yahoo! Research.

 

In parallel, he also held an Adjunct Associate Professor position at the EECS Department of the University of California, Berkeley. Minos’ research interests are in the broad areas of big data analytics and large-scale machine learning. He has published over 170 scientific papers in refereed international conferences and journals in these areas and is the co-editor of a volume on data stream management published by Springer in 2016.
