Italian AI company Translated, a world leader in machine translation, is spearheading a major European research initiative in Rome called DVPS (Diversibus Vilis Plurima Solvo), which aims to overcome the limitations of current large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude.
Launched in July 2025 at Translated’s Pi campus in Rome, DVPS brings together 70 researchers from 20 leading organisations in nine European countries and is supported by the EU with 29 million euros from the Horizon Europe programme. The aim is to develop a new type of AI that learns from interaction with the real world by combining voice, image and sensor data, rather than relying solely on static, human-generated digital content.
